Northumberland
In North East England is Northumberland (/nɔːrˈθʌmbərlənd/; abbreviated Northd). Annexing in 1495 Tynedale, Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1482, in 1572 Hexhamshire, Redesdale around 1542, and in 1536 Tynemouth, Northumberland expanded in the Tudor period. In 1844, Norhamshire, Islandshire and Bedlingtonshire were incorporated into Northumberland.
